In 2010-2016, SVESMI partner Anastassia Smirnova-Berlin has been actively involved in programming of a unique educational hub called Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design in Moscow. Along with the best professionals in the field she co-directed a program for young designers with the focus on urban studies and research-based design, building a unique multidisciplinary curriculum.
She taught the Preservation studio with Rem Koolhaas in 2010-2011 and several studios on the Soviet mass-produced housing with a market analyst David Erixon in 2011-2013. She also became a co-director of Strelka education with an architect Yuri Grigorian. In 2014-2015 she designed a conceptual framework for the whole year titled “Urban Routines” which included four research-based design studios “Dwelling”, “Shopping”, “Offices’, and “Cars”.
